During the year extensive alterations and enlargements
have been carried out at the Ruislip Outfall Works under the
supervision of Mr. Howard Humphreys, A.M.I.C.E.
The Sewers are laid on the Separate System.
(I) Northwood— 8-inch mains, part converging to a
10-inch main at Hill's Lane, the remainder to another 10-inch
main at the lower end of Church Road, these two 10-inch
mains join under the Poor's Field and from their junction a
15-inch outfall sewer runs under Reservoir Lane, Withy Lane,
Breakspear Road, to the corner of Fine Bush Lane, from this
point a 10-inch inverted iron syphon conveys the sewage to
the Detritus chamber at the Sewage works. This 10-inch
iron syphon has been supplemented by another syphon of the
same size.
With very few exceptions the houses in Northwood are
connected to the Sewers.
70 new connections have been made during the year in
Northwood and 20 disused cesspools have been filled up. It
is very necessary that all disused cesspools should be cleaned
out and filled up.
