    I received notification of 327 cases of infectious diseases during the year. The different diseases are thus tabulated:—

    It will be seen from the subjoined table the degree in which infectious disease prevailed in the various parishes of the district, Dagenham being by far the greatest source of infectious diseases, a condition which I hope will be altered when the system of sewerage, now in course of arrangement, is completed.

    Diseases of a zymotic character proved fatal in 29 instances. The death-rate from this class of disease for the entire district having been 1-4 per 1,000. The following table shows the nature and distribution of fatal zymotic disease in the different localities of the district.
