MATERNITY SERVICES
Attention has frequently been drawn to the difficulties
experienced in finding local maternity beds for some expectant
mothers who require a hospital confinement. This problem is caused
by an acute shortage of maternity beds in the Romford Group
Hospital Management Committee area, and adjoining districts.
It appears this position cannot be remedied for some 3-5 years
unless present plans of the North-East Metropolitan Regional
Hospital Board for this area are quickly amended.
