60 deaths of residents of Romford were due to Lung Cancer.
51 of these were male and 9 were female.
The deaths of 139 persons were ascribed to Bronchitis and
other allied respiratory diseases.
Accidents accounted for 29 deaths during the year, 21 males
and 8 females. This total, includes the deaths of 14 male and 5
females resulting from motor vehicle accidents.
Eight male and four females committed suicide, compared with
a total of four in 1962.

Of the 1,088 cases of measles, half were notified in the first
quarter of the year, being a continuation of the rise in notifications
which commenced in June of the previous year. Practically all the
