MORTALITY RATES
Mortality data are only a very crude measure of the efficiency
of the Maternity and Child Welfare Services, but in the absence of
reliable information regarding morbidity such an index must be
used. We are bound to get wide fluctuations in local figures from
year to year due to a comparatively small number of cases.
