(ix) Domestic Helps.
The service of domestic helps has continued to meet the needs of
the area. During the year 147 part-time and casual helps were employed,
and these gave assistance in 639 individual cases.
Tuberculous patients have been helped by those who volunteer for
this service. These latter have a special medical examination, prior to
taking up duties, and they receive detailed instructions on precautionary
measures.
(x) Day Nurseries
The average daily attendance for the year at each Nursery was as
follows: —

The "St. Moritz" Nursery and the Collier Row Nursery are
scheduled to take 40 children each, and the Rush Green Nursery 50.
(xi) Dental Service
During the year, we were able to acquire the services of another
full-time Dental Officer, and Dental Attendant. Although appointed
primarily for duties in connection with the School Health Service, nevertheless,
one session per week is devoted to expectant and nursing mothers,
and children under school age.

(xii) Welfare Foods
When the local Food Office closed at the end of June, the Ministry
of Health transferred the responsibility for the distribution of Welfare
Foods to the Local Health Authorities, and arrangements were accordingly
made in the district for the continuance of this service. This
