(ii) Ice Cream.
All Traders and Manufacturers of ice cream have to be registered
under the provisions of the Romford Urban District Council
Act, 1931. There were at the end of the year 45 manufacturers, and
144 vendors on the register.
As regards the question of the sale of food products in general,
including Ice Cream, this Council, like so many other Councils, has
given consideration to the suggestion that registrations should be
made governing the conditions under which unwrapped products
could be sold. It has, however, been decided to leave the matter in
abeyance, until a copy of the Model Byelaws proposed to be made
under Section 15 of the Food and Drugs Act, 1938, has been
received.
(iii) Meat.
The Sanitary Inspectors, for this purpose, have again regularly
attended at the Regional Slaughterhouse, which is situate in this
area, and, in addition, have paid the usual visits to Meat Depots,
Butchers' Shops, Stalls, etc.
Altogether, 1,126 visits have been paid, and at the Slaughterhouse,
15,249 carcases were examined. No Ante-Mortem inspections
are carried out, but all animals slaughtered are examined PostMortem.
Table 11 sets out the particulars of the carcases inspected and
condemned.
