(vii) Dental Service.
This service is, unfortunately, one which has not developed to
the extent we desired. Our original intention was to employ 5
Dentists, and for each to devote 20% of his or her time to dental
work as required by Expectant and Nursing Mothers, and Children
under school age, but, as we had only 2 School Dentists available
on July 5th, it was felt that the best that we could do would be to
allow each to give 1 Session per week to this particular branch of
the work. By the end of the year, however, one of the School
Dentists resigned, and the whole of the school work had, therefore,
to be undertaken by the 1 remaining Dentist. Nevertheless, a token
service has been maintained for the Maternity and Child Welfare
patients, and this is being operated on 2 sessions per fortnight.
The following gives particulars of the service given to Expectant
and Nursing Mothers, and Children under 5 years of age, not
attending school:—
