Oct. 15th. Brick Kiln Farm, Straight Road. A sample of
the water from the well on these premises was submitted to me
by the Inspector for analysis. I found the water to be fit for
potable purposes.
Oct. 16th. River Rom, High Street. Two samples of a fluid
oozing through the retaining walls of this river were submitted
to me by the Inspector for analysis. I found them to be sewage
matter. The necessary steps were taken to prevent the pollution
of the river.
Oct. 21th. Pigstyes, &c., Marlborough Road. Messrs.
Buckett & Jennings. At the request of the Inspector 1 visited
these premises and found a serious nuisance existing, arising
from pig keeping, boiling of offal, &c., the styes and paving being
very defective. Notice was served on the owners to abate the
nuisance. The notice was not complied with, a summons was
issued, and the defendants fined and ordered to carry out the
works within 14 days. The premises have since been dismantled
and are now satisfactory.

Oct. 22nd. Oak Villa, Ems Road. I visited these premises
in company with the Sanitary Inspector and found them to be
satisfactory. A sample of the water from the well was taken
and analyzed by me and found to be bad. A proper water
supply has since been provided.
Nov. 30th. Cowsheds, &c., Marlborough Road. Visited
these premises in company with the Inspector, confirmed list of
works required by notice served on Mr. Whiffen by the Inspector
and reported to the Council. The Cowsheds have since been
visited by me, and the works are in progress.
Dec. 3rd. River Worn, The Batters, South Street. Two
samples of matter floating on surface of River Rom were submitted
to me by the Inspector. I found them to be vegetable
mnltter only. Complaint of this was made by Mr. Clifton.
