of town residents removed to the Union Workhouse, the
deaths for the district were 168. The population of the
district was estimated to be 14,400. The death-rate would
therefore be 11.6 per 1,000 of the population. The number
of births registered during the year was 424, the birth-rate
being 29.4 per 1,000.
The following table shows the birth-rate and death-rate
for the last five years.
