A large amount of meat and bacon is sent from food stores in other
districts to a local food factory for manufacturing purposes and requires careful
examination and trimming before being used. This entails frequent visits being
made.
No animals were slaughtered in the district.
Food Poisoning.
No cases of food poisoning were notified during the year and no deaths
from enteritis and diarrhoea were recorded.
A set of posters illustrating the causes of and advice on how to prevent
food poisoning was exhibited in a prominent position in the Public Library.
MORTUARY.
During the year improvements were made to the Council's mortuary,
including the provision of a refrigerating chamber to accommodate two bodies.
My thanks are due to the Chairman and Members of the Public Health
Committee for their cordial support during the year, and also to the staff of the
Public Health Department for their ready co-operation.
I am, Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
B. E. HAWKINS,
Medical Officer of Health.
