No legal proceedings were taken.
Dental Treatment.
Where necessary, expectant and nursing mothers and children are referred
to the Dental Surgeon for treatment and during the year, this was done in 125
cases, compared with 120 cases in 1946.
Care of Illegitimate Children.
The Council is co-operating in the arrangements adopted by the Kent
County Council for the care of unmarried mothers and their children, and a
grant towards the cost of their maintenance was made in one case.
Care of Premature Infants.
Steps have been taken to implement the suggestions contained in Circular
20/44 of the Ministry of Health. Arrangements have been made for Penge babies
born outside the Joint Maternity Hospital to be admitted thereto when requiring
institutional care.
During the year, 11 premature infants were born in the district.

Home and Domestic Helps.
Part-time Home Helps are employed in connection with maternity cases and
during the year their services were provided in 29 cases, compared with 28 cases
during 1946.
Domestic Helps were provided in 12 cases on account of illness in the
families concerned, compared with two cases during the previous year,
