The births registered during the year numbered 491,
of which 230 were males and 261 females. This gives a birth
rate of 17.9 per 1,000, compared with 18.4 for 1924.

Notification of Births Act.
Two hundred and two births were notified by Medical
Practitioners, 143 by midwives, and five by parents. Six were
not notified. Five notifications of still-births were received.
