The District is healthily situated on the slope of a
hill, its highest point being 370 feet above sea level.
The Crystal Palace and greater part of the Grounds
occupying about 127 acres are within the District. About 20
acres of the grounds were recently opened to the public, thus
supplying another much needed recreation ground for the
neighbourhood.
The District is mainly residential, there being no
staple industry. A large proportion of the residents are
engaged in business in London.
The Metropolitan Water Board supply a constant service
of water, the majority of the premises being connected
directly to the rising main.
