Town Hall,
Anerley Road,
Anerley, S.E.
To the Chairman and Members of the Penge Urban District
Council.
Gentlemen,
I have pleasure in submitting to you herewith my
report of the work carried out for the year ending 31st
December, 1903.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES.
It is a cause of congratulation that no case of Smallpox
occurred in the District during the whole of the year,
although in London and surrounding districts isolated
cases have repeatedly occurred. Several persons who had
been in contact with Small-pox cases were notified to us.
These persons were daily visited and kept under observation
for 14 days. In the beginning of the year such a
notification came from Croydon that a man suffering from
Small-pox had recently stayed at a common lodginghouse
in Arpley Road. The inmates of this house were
kept in quarantine and vaccinated.
