STAFF MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
138 members or potential members of the staff were given a medical
examination during the year. 124 were examined in the previous year.
UNEMPLOYMENT
I am indebted to the Manager of the Local Employment Exchange for
the following information with regard to unemployment in the area
during 1964i-
"The number of unemployed persons has been consistently lower
throughout the year as compared with 1963. The highest monthly figure
was in January with 199 men and 22 women and the lowest in June when
the figure was 110 men and 19 women. Throughout the year there has
been a constant unsatisfied demand for both men and women in skilled
and unskilled occupations."

OPEN-AIR RECREATIONAL AMENITIES.

Approximately 292.28 acres of land have been secured for public recreational purposes within the Urban District, as under:-
