Unemployment
I am indebted to the Manager of the Local Employment Exchange
for the following information with regard to unemployment in the
area during 1962:—
"Throughout the year the number of unemployed persons has
been higher than in 1961. January showed the highest figure with 269
unemployed and the lowest figure was 168 in June. The normal
seasonal rise started earlier this year and the November figure (266)
was nearly as high as January which is normally considered to be the
peak month.
There has been a general decrease in demand for labour particularly
for unskilled workers."
Open-Air Recreational Amenities.
