Diseases of Animals (Waste Foods) Order, 1957.
Briefly the object of this Order is to prevent the spread of
Foot and Mouth and other diseases of animals. The Order provides,
inter alia, that where persons collect waste foods for feeding to
other animals or poultry, the foods must first be boiled for one
hour in a Plant licensed by the Local Authority. Thirty-eight
Boiling Plants were licensed during 1958.
Drainage and Sewerage.
The trunk soil sewerage system is under the control of the
West Kent Main Sewerage Board. Branch main soil sewers and
main surface water sewers have been provided during the year by
the Local Authority as under: —
Private Estate Development—
1,728 lineal yards of 6" Foul Water Sewer.
109 lineal yards of 9" Foul Water Sewer.
110 lineal yards of 9" Surface Water Sewer.
Council Construction—
547 lineal yards of 6" Foul Water Sewer.
4 lineal yards of 9" Foul Water Sewer.
Factories Acts, 1937 and 1948.
There are 144 factories on the Council's register at the present
time.
Eighty-two visits of inspection were made by the Public Health
Inspectors during the year.
Only one defect or contravention was found and this was
abated.
