everyone of us to take serious note of all those little things which
we all know are potential dangers in the house, and take appropriate
preventive measures before it is too late. This warning
applies particularly where children or elderly persons are resident,
for they are the groups most susceptible to accidents caused by
slight deviations from the safest possible domestic arrangements.
The time has now come to thank Mr. Crowe, the Chief Public
Health Inspector for his customary application to duty, also the
district inspectors and clerical staff, all of whom have worked so
well together as a team.
During the course of the year we said a regretful goodbye to
Messrs. Auty and Beddis, two of the inspectors, and welcomed in
their places Messrs. Coppin and Robinson.
My professional colleagues, including Dr. Kelynack, my
deputy, and various local bodies both statutory and voluntary have
all been most helpful for which I am truly grateful.
As usual my final words of thanks must be to the Chairman
and Members of the Public Health Committee who have taken a
continuing keen interest in the work of the department and
shown a sympathetic understanding of the difficulties sometimes
experienced by those whose task it is to implement Committee
decisions.
I am.
Your obedient Servant,
H. B. C. CARTER-LOCKE,
Medical Officer of Health
