Swimming Baths and Pools.
Four visits of inspection were made by the Public Health
Inspectors to the one swimming bath in the district to which the
public are admitted.
Verminous Conditions and Uncleanliness.
No cases of unclean premises were found during the year, but
twelve of verminous premises were dealt with by the Department's
disinfector.
Water Supply.
The urban district has a large agricultural area in the south
and of a total of approximately 24,000 dwellings, only 37 premises
are situated where a main piped water supply is not available.
The source of water supply to these 37 premises is derived
from rainwater collected from roofs and stored in underground
tanks constructed of brick and concrete.
50 owners have not connected their premises to the water main
although it is available in the roads fronting their premises. Some
of these are a considerable distance from the road, but there are
13 within 80 feet of the main.
During the year it was necessary to serve one Statutory Notice.
The total of 87 premises still dependent upon underground tank or well supply is made up as follows —
