replaces the former Sanitary Inspectors and in my opinion is an
improvement, giving a somewhat clearer picture of the true nature
of the duties of these most important officers.
My final paragraph must be devoted to thanking the many
individuals who have helped me in the year's work. Firstly, a
special word of thanks to Mr. Crowe the Chief Public Health
Inspector, who carries such a heavy responsibility for the day to
day administration of the department, but my thanks are also due
to the whole staff for the assiduous attention to their duties. I am
also very grateful to Dr. Kelynack, my deputy, who is so thorough
and careful in all his work. Grateful thanks must also be accorded
to my professional colleagues in all branches of medical science,
for their continued forebearance and kindliness. Lastly, but by
no means least, I must thank the Chairman and Members of the
Public Health Committee for their keen interest and encouragement
in the work of the department, for without their support little could
be achieved.
I am,
Your obedient Servant,
H. B. C. CARTER-LOCKE,
Medical Officer of Health.
