arrange for the burial or cremation of the body of any person who
has died or been found dead in their area, if it appears that no suitable
arrangements for the disposal of the body have or are being made.
Expenses incurred by the local authority may be recovered from the
estate of the deceased person or from any person liable to maintain
the deceased person immediately prior to his death.
During the year 1955, the Council arranged for the burial of 2
persons under this section of the Act.
LABORATORY SERVICE.
All routine medical and Food and Drugs samples are forwarded
to the Public Health Laboratory at Maidstone.
This service ceased to be the responsibility of the County Council
towards the end of 1955, and was taken over by the Public Health
Laboratory Service which is directed by the Medical Research Council
on behalf of the Ministry of Health.

The disinfecting station is situate at the Council Offices and details of the work carried out during 1955 are as under:—
