My final paragraph will be one of thanks, and it will at least be
sincere, even if expressed very inadequately. My deepest gratitude is
extended to the Council, and especially to those members who have
served on its Public Health Committees in recent years, for their
enthusiasm and where necessary, forbearance, and I look forward with
hope to many years of happy collaboration with you in the betterment
of health of the people of this town. And now a word to the
staff who have all supported me so loyally, and will, I am confident,
continue to do so—to one and all I say a heartfelt " thank you," and
in so doing a special word of praise to Mr. Crowe, who discharges his
many onerous administrative responsibilities with such unfailing efficiency
and humanity.
I am,
Your obedient Servant,
H. B. C. CARTER-LOCKE,
Medical Officer of Health.
May, 1955.
