POPULATION.
The Registrar General's estimate of the total population (civilian
and non-civilian) of the Urban District, mid-year 1953, is 64,480,
which is an increase of 810 over that for the previous year. This population
figure gives a density of 3.09 persons to the acre.
The natural increase of population (measured by excess of births
over deaths) for the year was 293.
