EMERGENCY DOMESTIC HOME HELP SCHEME.
In June of this year the Kent County Council delegated
without restriction or conditions their powers in connection
with the Emergency Domestic Help Scheme to this Council.
In the early days the work involved by this Scheme was
incorporated in the work of the existing Public Health staff,
but as from mid-November a part-time responsible clerical assistant
was wholly employed on the organisation and administration
of the Scheme in this District. The foundations of this
Scheme have now been soundly laid, and it is hoped that it will
gather momentum and become a well-established addition to
the services available to the public.
DRAINAGE.
The houses in the main portion of the District are on the
water carriage system, and most of the houses are connected
to the public sewers.
Work in connection with the extension of the sewer to
Knockholt was in progress at the end of the year.
