HEALTH REPORT FOR 1944.
Births.—The number of Births registered during the year as
belonging to the District was 1,068, of which number 569 were males
and 499 were females. This gives a Birth Rate of 22.7 per thousand
of population, as compared with 21.0 last year.
The Birth Rate in England and Wales was 17.6.
Deaths.—During the year 536 Deaths were registered, of which
280 were males and 256 were females. This is equal to a Death Rate
of 11.4 per thousand of population, as against 11.2 last year.
The Death Rate for England and Wales was 11.6.

The Infantile Mortality Rate was equal to 28 per thousand registered births.

INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
The year 1944 was a fairly satisfactory one from the point of
view of incident of Infectious Disease, the bulk of the notifications
being cases of Measles and Whooping Cough.
