Bakehouses.—Eighteen inspections were made to the two
occupied registered bakehouses, and internal cleansing* and
limewashing carried out as required.
Defects at one premises were remedied as the result of
informal action.
Food Shops.—To these premises 51 visits were made. No
nuisance or unsound food discovered.
Slaughter-houses.—One hundred and twenty-seven visits
were made to the four occupied slaughter-houses. The premises
were generally kept clean and in good order, minor repairs as
necessary being carried out from time to time by occupiers.
Piggeries.—Pig keeping is carried on to a fairly large
extent at four premises in my area, and 109 inspections were
carried out. 1 discovered no nuisance.
Public Health (Meat) Regulations.—The number of
Notices of Slaughter received during the year was 134, the
number of pigs slaughtered and examined thereunder being
1,077.
A total of 764 1bs of pork was condemned as unfit for food
for the following reasons:—
Tuberculosis 674
Cirrhosis 90
