WATER SUPPLY.
The Metropolitan Water Board's mains supply the greater
portion of the District. In some outlying portions, however,
water is obtained from deep wells or from rain water collected
from the roofs of the houses and stored in tanks.
Main supply has been extended during the year to various
new estates which have been laid out.
The problem of houses not provided with a main water
supply, but depending on stored roof-water, is receiving consideration,
but is a difficult one, owing to the scattered position
of the premises affected. A detailed survey is being undertaken
in an endeavour to improve the condition of affairs at present
obtaining. The following tabular statement, compiled at the
end of the year, gives a rough idea of the present position.
Roads in the Biggin Hill Area where no Water Mains are laid,
Occupiers of Premises, therefore, having to depend on Stored

Rainwater for Domestic Purposes.
