Personal Health Services
(Leyton Health Area Sub - Committee)
SECTION 21 - HEALTH CLINICS AND OTHER PREMISES
There are no Health Centres as such in the area. However, there are three excellent
Health Services Clinics which serve the Borough.
The phased programme of redecorating these premises was completed in 1961 and
during 1962 the following special works were carried out.
DAWLISH ROAD CLINIC
Exterior redecorated and forecourt paved with neolite tiles. Two seats were
included in this attractive new lay-out and these have been very much appreciated by
the elderly people who make use of them.
GRANLEIGH ROAD CLINIC (PARK HOUSE)
Part of the forecourt of these premises was adapted as a play area for children
attending the Child Development Sessions at this clinic and this was enclosed with
fencing.
LEYTON GREEN CLINIC
The floor of the main hall and Dental and Chiropody suites were laid with Marley
tiles giving the clinic a much brighter and more modern look. Due to the difficulty in
recruiting chiropodists and the improved situation in obtaining dental officers a
chiropody suite at this clinic was adapted as an additional dental surgery.
CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC
The private dwelling at 133 Dawlish Road, Leyton, E.10., previously occupied by
one of the County Council's Duly Authorised Officers, was converted to accommodate the
Leyton Child Guidance Clinic, which opened there on 1st October, 1962.
EPSOM ROAD DAY NURSERY
The construction of this new 50 place Day Nursery, replacement for Knotts Green
Day Nursery continued during the year and it is anticipated that this will be completed
and ready for occupation in April, 1963.
