The loan of sickroom equipment continues to meet the needs of those patients being
nursed at home. There is always a waiting list for invalid chairs; however, every attempt
is made to assist people in the occasional visit to friends and shops.
The Leyton, Wanstead and Woodford Tuberculosis Care Association have continued to
make good progress during the year and many tuberculous patients have testified regarding
the help they have received from the Association during times of financial hardship.
Last year I submitted a comprehensive report on the Domestic Help Service. During
the year there has been a negligible increase in the number of hours worked by the helps
and only by constant surveillance of the amount of time allocated has the average yearly
increase been reduced. This is an extremely valuable service and the many letters of
appreciation received confirm this assessment.
