NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE ACT, PART III
The Local Health Authority have delegated most of the Part III
Services to -the Leyton Health Area Sub-Committee. This Committee,
under the Chairmanship of Alderman Mrs. J. Hammond, O.B.E., J.P.,
has evinced a keen interest in the work of the Health Services and there
has been much thoughtful discussion at their meetings. It is of great
advantage that Alderman Mrs. Hammond is also Chairman of the
Borough of Leyton Welfare Services Committee and, in consequence,
there has been a close integration between the two committees especially
with the welfare of the aged.
The Borough of Leyton Welfare Services Committee have assumed
financial responsibility for domiciliary chiropody, the meals on wheels
service, and extra nourishment to old people, and as will be appreciated
with the duties of the health visitors embracing the care of the aged and
the majority of the beneficiaries of the Domestic Help Service being also
aged persons, great benefits have accrued from this close integration of
the services.
