County Council for the necessary approval. The appropriate
Committee of the County Council approved the continuation in
Leyton of the scheme for protection of children against whooping
cough provided that a particular type of vaccine be used and that
parents be informed that there can be no guarantee that the vaccine
will protect the child completely against an attack of whooping
cough.
The arrangements for public whooping cough immunisation
in the Area were put into operation on 10th September, 1951;
and the following table gives the available information regarding
the number and age groups of the children who were immunised
