CHILD GUIDANCE.
Report of the Educational Psychologist to the Forest and
Leyton Divisions (Miss M. Marshall), 1950.
The Educational Psychologist has continued to visit the schools
in the Forest and Leyton Divisions during the year. The increase
in the school population has resulted in many more requests from
schools for visits and a waiting list of these has had to be compiled
so that they may be taken in order. Unfortunately it has not been
possible to meet all requests within the school term in which
they are made. Owing to the rapid increase in the school population
in the Forest Division, it was decided to divide the work, and in
September the Educational Psychologist for Walthamstow took
over the Chingford area. The school population for the remainder
of the Forest Division plus that of the Leyton Division is now
roughly 30,000.
Fifty-four schools were visited during the year for the purpose
of interviewing and testing individual children. Visits were also
made to other schools to discuss the problems of a particular child
with the teaching staff. Altogether 278 children were given
individual tests of intelligence and attainment, the great majority
in school. Of these 119 were in Leyton Schools and 159 in the
Forest Division. Information about the 278 children seen individually
'by the Psychologist is as follows:—
