Examination of Domestic Helpers by the National Institute of
Houseworkers.
Five Domestic Helpers from this Area were selected to undergo
the examination in order to obtain the Diploma of the National
Institute of Houseworkers. The candidates were interviewed by
an Officer from the Institute on the 16th September, and each
candidate was required to write a letter at the time of the interview
to the Chairman of the National Institute of Houseworkers explaining
her reasons for desiring to take the Diploma Examination.
A report on each of the Helpers was made by me for the
information of the interviewer. The practical part of the examination
was carried out during the week commencing 10th October at
a house at Woodford Green.
Four of the candidates were successful in passing the examination
and were presented with their Diplomas by the Chairman of
the County Health Committee at the County Hall, Chelmsford,
in December.
The successful candidates are now entitled to an additional
one penny per hour in respect of cases attended.
