children below the age of five years, the Council decided in June
to appoint an additional health visitor. By the end of this year,
however, no suitable application had been received for the vacancy.
Mr. E. J. Steeden, Deputy Senior Sanitary Inspector, retired
on reaching superannuable age at the end of December, 1946; and
the vacancy was filled by the promotion of Mr. R. A. Reeves. The
vacancy caused by the promotion of Mr. Reeves has not yet been
filled. In November, Mr. F. W. Reeve left the Council's service
to take up another appointment; but, by the end of the year, no
successor had been appointed.
