Admissions to Hospital.
Six children were admitted to hospital and the following
operations performed—
1. Bursa inner side knee joint.
2. Removal of glass from inner side left malleolus.
3. Arthrodesis 1st interphalangeal joint 5th digit of left hand.
4. Transplantation of tibialis anticus tendon.
5. Median Stoffel left arm.
6. Investigation left knee joint.

As the result of examination these 90 children were classified as follows:—

Anterior Poliomyelitis.
Seven school children, who contracted anterior poliomyelitis
during the outbreak of 1947, attended the orthopaedic clinic for
observation and after care following their discharge from hospital.
Four of these children had been discharged as cured before the end
of the year, and three are making satisfactory progress.
HANDICAPPED PUPILS.
Medical Examinations.
During the year, some 90 children were referred for special
medical examination.
