Public Health Act, 1936. Child Life Protection.
On 1st January, 8 foster mothers and 8 children—and at
the end of the year 9 foster mothers and 9 children—were subject
to inspection.
The Council's Child Protection Visitors made 66 visits of
inspection during the year.

Ante-Natal Clinics—
Attendances.—

The average number in attendance at the Ante-Natal Clinics
held at the Council's two Centres during 1947 was 12.12 per session.
The number of home visits made by Health Visitors to
expectant mothers during the year was 39.
Maternity Beds.
One thousand and thirty-two patients were admitted during
1947 under the terms of the agreements with Mothers' Hospital,
Clapton, Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford, and Forest Gate
Hospital.

There are two registered nursing homes in the Borough.
Eight inspections were made to these institutions during the
year.
