Orthopaedic Treatment.
Primary Examinations.— During the year 54 children were
referred from the Child Welfare Clinics to the Council's Orthopaedic
Surgeon.
Re-examinations.—In addition to the 54 new cases mentioned
above, 43 children under five years of age attended for re-examination
by the Orthopaedic Surgeon.
Treatment.—One hundred and two children made 803
attendances for special treatment by the Council's Physiotherapist.
Provision of Surgical Appliances.—Fifty-three children
had minor alterations to boots and shoes and two children were
supplied with walking calipers, one with the addition of a varus
T-strap.
Anterior Poliomyelitis.
Of the three pre-school children who have been attending
the orthopaedic clinic for after care, two have been discharged as
cured.
