CHILD WELFARE.
Notification of Births.— Two thousand three hundred and
seventy-three notifications of births were received during the year.
By medical practitioners 431
By midwives 1,966
Child Welfare Centres.
On the following page will be found a Table giving detailed
information regarding the attendances of infants and children
at the Council's child welfare clinics during the last three years.
It will be seen that during that time the total annual attendances
at both Health Centres have increased from 13,575 in 1945 to
22,565 in 1947—an increase of 66 per cent.
Health Visitors.
During the year the Health Visitors have made 14,673 visits
to homes, as follows :—
(a) To expectant mothers :—
First visits 39

(b) To children under 1 year of age :—

(c) To children between the ages of 1 and 5
