SPEECH THERAPY.
My last Annual Report contained particulars of the transfer—
in accordance with the instruction of the Ministry of Education in
Administrative Memo. No. 101—of speech therapists to the school
medical service. Since 1st November, 1945, the Council's two
speech therapists, formerly employed as teachers, have been
members of the staff of the Medical Officer of Health; and have
been working in close collaboration with the school medical staff.
As it has not been found possible to provide accommodation for
speech therapy clinics at the health centres, it has been necessary
for the speech therapists to continue their work in schools—often
in unsuitable premises not conducive to the best results.
The following summary shows the number of children treated
