Admissions to Hospital.
Eight children were admitted to hospital and the following
operations performed—
1. Arthrodesis foot—right and left—plaster of Paris.
2. Manipulation foot—left—plaster of Paris.
3. Tendon transplantation—foot—left—plaster of Paris.
4. Tenotomy tendo achilles—right—plaster of Paris.
5. „ ,, ,, right and left—plaster of Paris.
6. Ankylosis digit 2 (hammer toe)—right and left.
7. Subcutaneous tenotomy—sterno mastoid—right. Plaster
of Paris cast.
8. Subcutaneous tenotomy—sterno mastoid—left. Plaster of
Paris cast.
Surgical Appliances and Boots.
The following have been supplied—
Surgical alterations to boots 2
Minor alteration to boots and shoes 82
Repairs to surgical boot 1
Hallux valgus splints 2 pairs and one single.
Artificial Sunlight Clinic.
Number of children who attended 145
Attendances made 3,854
HANDICAPPED PUPILS.
Statutory Medical Examinations.
During the year, some 96 children were referred for statutory
medical examination.
As the result of examination these 96 children were classified
as follows:—
Behaviour Problems:—
With average intelligence 10
Above „ „ 4
Below „ ,, 6
Dull and backward 17
„ „ ,, requiring re-assessment 14
Backward only 14
Educationally sub-normal requiring special education 17
Children notified as requiring institutional treatment 2
