Report by the Authority's Senior Dental Officer
(A. E. Hall, L.D.S.)
During 1946, the first complete post-war year, the dental
staff consisted of two dental officers and two dental attendants,
which represented only two-thirds of the immediate pre-war school
dental staff.
Routine dental inspection was carried out in all but seven of
the schools in the area; but of these seven schools, three (Lea
Bridge, St. Joseph's and Knotts Green) are very small ones and do
not together represent numerically one department in many of the
bigger schools.
The total number inspected was 7,766, which was 650 less than
that of the previous year; but 525 children, who were inspected in
December, 1945, at the Boys' High School, had the necessary
treatment done during the year under review.
