MATERNAL WELFARE.
Ante-Natal Clinics—
Attendances.—

The average number in attendance at the Ante-Natal Clinics
held at the Council's two Centres during 1945 was 10.23 per session.
The number of home visits made by Health Visitors to
expectant mothers during the year was 224.
Maternity Beds.
Six hundred and thirty patients were admitted during 1945
under the terms of the agreements with Mothers' Hospital, Clapton,
Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford, and Forest Gate Hospital.
Public Health Act, 1936. Registration of Nursing Homes.
There are two registered nursing homes in the Borough.
Nine inspections were made to these institutions during the
year.
Home Helps.
Under the Council's scheme for the provision of home helps,
181 applications, 16 of whom made application in 1944, for home
helps were dealt with. In 131 cases home helps were provided and
27 of these cases had the charges remitted in accordance with the
Council's scale. In the 50 remaining cases, 14 made other arrangements
for the confinement, and 36 cases had not been confined at
the end of the year.
Puerperal Pyrexia.
Seven cases of puerperal pyrexia were notified during the
year.
The causes of pyrexia were considered to be:—

Pyelitis 1
