Public Health Act, 1936. Child Life Protection.
On 1st January, 10 foster mothers and 11 children—and at
the end of the year 9 foster mothers and 9 children—were subject
to inspection.
The Council's Child Protection Visitors made 41 visits of
inspection during the year.

The average number in attendance at the Ante-Natal Clinics
held at the Council's two Centres during 1944 was 10.77 per session.
The number of home visits made by Health Visitors to
expectant mothers during the year was 294.
Maternity Beds.
Three hundred and forty patients were admitted during
1944 under the terms of the agreement with the Mothers'
Hospital, Clapton and Queen Mary's Hospital, Stratford.

There are two registered nursing homes in the Borough.
Ten inspections were made to these institutions during the
year.
