Report by Dr. Mary L. Gilchrist.
It will bo noticed that there is a considerable increase in the
number of children submitted for Statutory Medical Examination
this year.
The increase can be traced to the effect of the war on the
education of the children, and is not due to any sudden deterioration
in the mental condition of the school children.
The majority of the backward children (I.Q's between 83 per
cent, and 100 per cent.) and the educational failures (I.Q's above
100 per cent.) fall in the 7—8 year and 10—II year age groups.
