MATERNITY AND CHILD
WELFARE.
On 15th October the Council's Health Centre at Park House
sustained severe damage as the result of enemy action, the result
being that the clinic sessions had to be discontinued. Before the
end of that month it was possible to arrange for all clinic services
formerly held at Park House Centre to be transferred to Council
premises in the Public Baths, Cathall Road. Fortunately the
medical, dental and nursing equipment at Park House sustained
very little damage.
INFANT WELFARE.
Notification of Births.—Eleven hundred and sixty-nine
notifications of births were received during the year.
By medical practitioners 303

During the year under review, the total attendances at the
Council's Infant Welfare Centres were 8,929, a decrease of 6,290
compared with the figure (15,219) for the previous year. The
number of children examined by the Clinic Medical Officers was
2,927 as compared with 5,919 examined during the previous year.
Health Visitors.
During the year the Health Visitors have made 15,442 visits
to homes, as follows:—
