HEART CLINIC.
Report by Physician in Charge of Heart Clinic (Dr. A. C.
Elman).
The following is a table showing the defects found:—
Normal | 11 |
Doubtful | 16 |
Congenital Morbus Cordis | 4 |
Mitral Regurgitation | 15 |
Mitral Stenosis | 5 |
Adherent Pericardium | 1 |
52 |
Of the above children, I have to report with regret that two
have died—one of Mitral Stenosis and one of Coarctation of the
Aorta (Congenital Morbus Cordis).
The cases described as doubtful may become normal or become
worse, but they are in a group which is most important to observe
frequently.
In addition to examinations and observations at the Clinic,
31 children received medicines.
The following is a table illustrating further investigations or/ and treatment undertaken in respect of these cases during 1939:—
Admitted to Hospital | 7 |
Dental Treatment | 4 |
Throat Treatment | 3 |
Haemoglobin % Estimations | 12 |
Orthopaedic Treatment | 1 |
Admitted to Heart Home | 1 |
Received Ultra Violet Treatment | 2 |
May I thank the Nursing Staff at the Clinic for their excellent
assistance, and Dr. Forrest for his most helpful collaboration.
