Admission to Hospital and Operations.
During the year four children were admitted to hospital and the following surgical operations were performed.
1. Reduction—Upper epiphysis femur. Plaster of Paris applied | 1 |
2. Reduction—Head of radius. Plaster of Paris applied | 1 |
3. Removal—Left cervical rib | 1 |
4. Removal—Exostosis foot, R | 1 |
Surgical Appliances.
The following have been supplied:—
Caliper splint (leg) | 1 |

Wedges, valgus pads, stiffening boots | 2 pairs |
Minor alterations to ordinary boots | 124 pairs |
Alterations and repairs to surgical boots, splints and appliances | 4 |
Genu valgum brace, R. and L. Tunnels and wedges to boots | 1 pair |
ARTIFICIAL SUNLIGHT CLINIC.
The administration of ultra violet light treatment was performed
by the Authority's Masseuse (Miss A. E. Findlay) under the
supervision of Dr. Henderson and his successor, Dr. Rennie (Deputy
School Medical Officer).
Of these 80 (84 per cent.) had either improved or were cured, 14 (15 per cent.) derived no benefit from treatment and 1 (1 per cent.) was worse.
