Defective Vision.—Of the 4,280 children subjected to routine
code group inspection in the schools, 283 (6.61 per cent.) were
found to be suffering from some eye defect requiring treatment.
Of the 4,909 children referred for special inspection, 413 (8.4 per
cent.) manifested some eye defect requiring treatment. The nature

Special Eye Clinic.—
During the year, the Ophthalmic Surgeon had referred to him
973 children, who made 1,289 attendances for examination and
treatment.
