Circular letters are sent out in February and August to
employers who neglect to forward their lists of outworkers by the
first day of these months, with the result that the necessary information
is generally forthcoming on the receipt of these reminder
notices.
1176 visits were paid to outworkers' premises. In 192 cases
it was found that the addresses returned on the lists were incorrect,
or that the outworker had given up the work. Every effort
is made to trace removals.
Uncleanly and insanitary conditions in 240 instances were
found and dealt with.
